My Choice Children's Homes Ltd provide residential care for children. The organisation has nine Ofsted registered homes located in Sussex and Surrey. Other services include an independent school, a head office and NCFE/ CACHE registered Training Centre.

Head Office and the Training Centre are based in Haywards Heath, West Sussex.

We are looking for an Assessor to join the team in assisting the Learning and Development Manager to deliver and support care staff through their Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare and, ideally, the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management.  We would also welcome applicants who do not hold the Assessor Award (Assessor in Training) but do have experience in childcare.  My Choice will provide the option to be trained and qualified whilst undertaking the role (training agreement will apply).

The role will require the Assessor to be meeting learners directly in the homes and facilitate group work at the training centre. The group work is to include a variety of delivery methods that meet the learners' styles and needs.

The role requires the Assessor to monitor progress and work as a team with the IQA and lead assessor.  The Assessor will need good communication skills and be able to share concerns and progress effectively with the Learning & Development Manager and Head of Centre. The Assessor will engage with standardisation meetings and EQA inspections as part of standard practice.

The role requires a recognised assessment qualification, TAQA or A1 , or be working towards whilst in post at My Choice.

It is also essential for the role that the successful candidate has experience of working in the childcare sector and has excellent communication and organisation skills.  This includes the ability to plan and manage a workload, working both independently and as part of the Training/Assessing team.

This is a field-based role which requires the assessment of individual staff practice at our Homes and the successful candidate will need to be able to nurture and develop learner progress through a flexible and supportive approach.

We also provide an employee benefits scheme, Perkbox and a contributory pension scheme.

Applications are invited by CV, if you're application is successful, we will need you to complete an application form for vetting purposes etc.

We do not accept calls from agencies for any roles.
