As Group Catering Manager at MotorSport Vision, you will be joining Europe’s leading race circuit operator, with a portfolio including some of the most iconic venues in British motorsport: Brands Hatch, Donington Park, Oulton Park, Snetterton, Cadwell Park and Bedford Autodrome, plus Circuito de Navarra in northern Spain.

The main purpose of the role is to manage the efficient and profitable operation of all hospitality and retail catering facilities across MSV’s circuits, with food and beverage provided to customers at the highest appropriate quality standards, within budgets, and in compliance with relevant company and statutory regulations and legislation. You will need to develop excellent catering teams at each venue, and be responsible for them performing to the highest levels.

The role covers all catering across the Group including, but not limited to, general admission catering, hospitality, corporate and conference catering, staff catering and third party vendors. This will be achieved by efficiently managing resources, staff and facilities and implementing systems to procure, profitably produce, present, and deliver an outstanding food and beverage service as required to support the various activities of MSV’s business.

Responsibilities of the Group Catering Manager role can be divided into the below sections:

Core role:

  • To deliver excellent quality catering and first class service to hospitality clients and retail clients alike
  • To oversee and manage the performance of the catering department across the MSV circuits by working with venue catering managers and their teams
  • Evolve the food and beverage offerings to optimise quality of service, speed of delivery, profit, meet customer requirements and improve overall customer satisfaction
  • To manage purchasing and procurement arrangements including tender processes for supply contracts

Financial

  • To manage financial control systems at each venue to monitor all catering-related costs so that accurate reporting can be achieved on an event-by-event, weekly and monthly basis
  • Ensure that systems and procedures are in place to control and report staff costs such that GP targets are met
  • Ensure robust cash handling, collection procedures and monitoring and reconciliation is in place at each catering outlet and venue.

People Management

  • Implement and develop staff training procedures to ensure catering teams across the group are kept up to date with legislation changes and are performing at the highest possible standard
  • Work with Group HR to manage localised employee relations and to ensure compliance with employment regulations in particular age and right to work legislation
  • To ensure across all circuits, that staff levels are adequately managed taking into consideration both service standards and individual event budgets

Stock Control

  • To implement appropriate systems to monitor and control all food and beverage stock held at sites for use by the relevant catering departments or outlets
  • Ensure that procedures for the storage of all foods and beverages are secure, hygienic and are in accordance with appropriate legislation and company systems
  • To work with the venue catering managers to monitor suppliers in respect of quality and cost, and to seek more cost-effective suppliers if required

Compliance

  • To be aware of and ensure MSV catering departments comply with regulations as set out in:
    • The Food Safety Act
    • The Health and Safety at Work Act
    • COSHH regulations
    • MSV Group Health and Safety Policy
    • Any other regulation that may affect the business, e.g. EU Food Information Regulations 2014 – allergens or local authority licenses
  • To ensure the maintenance of the company's Health and Safety policy and uphold Due Diligence systems to achieve five-star local authority food hygiene ratings
  • Ensure the implementation of recording systems (e.g. HACCP) on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis in line with any appropriate legislation and company policies

Contractor / Supplier Management

  • Oversee and consistently manage the selection of contract caterers used across all venues
  • Manage multi-site supplier contracts, overseeing both new and existing tender renewals when required

To apply for the role, you must be / have:

  • Extensive experience overseeing large catering functions in an event / sporting venue capacity, preferably with multi-site experience
  • Experience overseeing high volume food delivery operations
  • Proven experience managing a profitable catering operation
  • Impeccable organisational skills, with the ability to juggle competing demands from various sites
  • A willingness to get hands on if required at busy promoted events (British Superbikes, BTCC etc) so prior experience working either back of house / front of house would be desirable
  • Previous experience managing people of varying seniority
  • Experience managing accurate catering financial control systems
  • Impeccable English language skills both written and spoken
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office packages (Word, Excel, Outlook)

The Group Catering Manager role at MotorSport Vision reports directly into both the Group CEO and Group Operations Manager. Whilst your official place of work will be Brands Hatch Circuit, Kent, you will be expected to regularly travel to all MSV circuits, including those in Europe. Due to this, you will be required to have a full driving licence and the ability to travel in and out of the UK freely.

This role is being offered on a 42.5 hour permanent basis, however throughout the race season, you’ll be required to manage your work schedule to meet the needs of the business.
