Total Hourly Rate: £15.72 per hour
In addition, we offer:

About the Role
As a Hotel Receptionist, you’ll be one of the first people our guests meet and an important part of their overall stay.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Welcoming guests and providing a friendly, professional check-in and check-out experience
- Handling guest enquiries, requests and occasional complaints
- Taking hotel reservations and processing payments
- Answering telephone calls and responding to emails
- Assisting guests with information about the hotel and local area
- Liaising with Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Events and other hotel departments
- Completing reception administration and daily Front Office procedures
- Keeping the reception and entrance areas welcoming and professional
- Supporting the wider hotel operation when required.
- Hotel reception is an active working environment and this position is predominantly a standing role.
Our Front Office operation is designed around a standing reception desk, so you’ll need to be comfortable working on your feet for significant periods during your shift. Appropriate rest breaks and seating arrangements are available in line with hotel procedures.
Duty Manager Development
We’re also keen to help the successful candidate develop their skills.
Once you’re settled into the Receptionist role, you’ll receive training to undertake Duty Manager shifts from time to time.
This is a great opportunity to gain additional hotel management experience and may include supporting the wider hotel operation, assisting colleagues across departments and helping to deal with guest or operational matters during the shift.
You’ll only be asked to undertake Duty Manager responsibilities once you have received the appropriate training and feel confident in the role.
About You
We’d love to hear from you if you are:
- Friendly, approachable and naturally guest-focused
- Confident communicating with guests and colleagues
- Reliable and punctual
- Calm and professional in a busy environment
- Comfortable using computers and learning hotel systems
- Organised with good attention to detail
- Happy working as part of a team
- Flexible to work a mixture of shifts, including weekends and bank holidays
- Comfortable working in a predominantly standing Front Office role
Why Join The Mandolay?
You’ll be joining an established independent hotel where you’ll have the opportunity to learn more than just reception.
Alongside your day-to-day Front Office responsibilities, we’ll support you in developing your knowledge of hotel operations, guest service and Duty Management, making this a good opportunity for someone looking to build a longer-term career in hospitality.
