Institute of Education, Social and Life Sciences Are you a successful primary school teacher who would like to make a difference to the next generation of primary teachers? The Institute of Education, Social and Life Sciences provides high quality education and professional development and we currently have a vacancy for a full-time Lecturer in Education to join our successful team. This post will begin in January 2023 or sooner if possible (e.g. September 2022). Working on both undergraduate and postgraduate education programmes, you will make a key contribution to both Initial Teacher Education and other Education degrees. Teaching responsibilities will focus on primary mathematics, primary computing and professional studies as required. You will engage students in critical debates and discussion about teaching and the broader education context. As well as a detailed all-around knowledge of education and teaching (e.g. pedagogy, behaviour management, planning, assessment, etc.), for this role we are seeking applicants with a strong understanding of primary mathematics and primary computing. As a Lecturer in the department of Institute of Education, Social and Life Sciences, the working year will be divided between teaching, teaching-related administration, assessment and research in such proportions as may be decided by the Head of Department, after appropriate consultation, in accordance with the guidelines set out in the Terms and Conditions of Employment for Academic staff. There may also be opportunities to contribute to the delivery of other curriculum areas where appropriate. All members of the primary tutor team contribute collegiately to teaching, research and other development activities. You must hold Qualified Teacher Status and have a successful track record of teaching in the primary sector. You will be educated to at least degree level and ideally with professional qualifications at Masters level. The ability to enthuse and motivate students is essential, as is a broad understanding of current initiatives underpinning Primary Education.
